Search:  Deputy Campaign Director

A high-level search was conducted to secure potential candidates who would work well with an international Board of Directors, promote a better understanding of giving, and of the United States fundraising culture among Board members, and at the same time launch an effective capital campaign.  This position reports to the Executive Director.

The Search Counsel worked with the Board, the Executive Director, and the Assistant Executive Director to identify someone who would also be able to generate a strong base of support within the School community and plan and implement a $40 million campaign.

Millennium Promise

Search:   Chief Development Officer

This was a new organization co-founded by a prominent philanthropist. Their mission is to address the many aspects of extreme poverty in Africa.  Our challenge was to identify candidates who could work well with a high-powered Board primarily from the for-profit sector; build an effective development team with a focus on high net worth prospects; and develop and implement the organization’s $50 million capital campaign.

The new Chief Development Officer was chosen from a pool of qualified and extraordinary candidates.

The Vice President (VP) for University Advancement search was initiated to replace the former VP who was retiring after 30 years at the University.  The VP for University Advancement also serves as the Executive Director of the Foundation.

As a result of severe cuts in state funding, the University needed to create a more dynamic and aggressive development team.  Therefore, our mandate was to identify a new Vice President for University Advancement who would be able to hold the vision, support the change, and inspire others.  We were are also looking for candidates who could provide the strategic leadership to reorganize and reenergize the development, public information, communications, and marketing operations; increase private financial support; and work with the Board of the Foundation in their role as contributors.  This person was successfully identified and secured.

In addition, we staffed the University development team, which included a newly created position of Associate Vice President (AVP.)

This was a very specific job search that was extended into the corporate sector to identify the right person to lead the initiative to develop and execute a strategic marketing plan and also create a new image for the University.  In addition the Associate Vice President is responsible for forging new strategic and lucrative alliances within the business community, working with the Foundation Board to identify new corporate and on-line giving opportunities, and advancing technology as a fundraising tool.

Both of these positions were filled with exemplary individuals who continue to positively impact the culture and operations of the University.
